Notifications on your phone

A booking of yours made or changed, your client arriving, a message, approvals waiting and stock running low, as you choose, with quiet hours, and no health details on a lock screen.

The BookNovi app on your phone can tell you of what needs you, as it happens. Each person chooses which, and when their phone stays quiet; nothing is turned on for you without your yes, and the phone asks before it shows the first one.

What it tells you of

  • My bookings: a visit of yours booked, moved or canceled, by someone else (never your own change).
  • My client arrived: a client of yours checked in for their visit.
  • Messages for me: a text, an email, a web chat or a social message in a conversation given to you; an owner hears of the ones given to nobody. One the receptionist is answering, and nobody has taken, is left to it.
  • Approvals waiting: a change an assistant or a connection put forward, waiting for an owner's yes.
  • Stock running low: an item reaching its reorder point, for owners and managers. It is off until you turn it on, since it can come often.

You are offered only what is yours: the bookings and arrivals where you are on the team as someone who sees clients, approvals where you are an owner, stock where you are an owner or a manager. A tap on a notification opens its page in the app, at the business it is from.

Turning them on

  1. In the app, open Settings, then Notifications.
  2. Turn on what you want under Tell me about. The first time, the app says what it will tell you of, and then the phone asks; allow it. Turn on notifications at the top does the same.
  3. If you said no to the phone before, Open the phone’s settings takes you there to allow BookNovi.

Lately lists the last ones, with how each went: sent, waiting for your quiet hours, or not sent and why.

Quiet hours

Turn on Quiet hours and set From and Until with the arrows, half an hour at a time. Nothing comes to your phone then, on the business's clock; what comes in waits until they end. Quiet hours hold every notification on the phone, the sales news included.

What a lock screen says

A lock screen is read by whoever holds the phone, so a notification is short: what happened, when, and the client's first name and initial ("Ana R., Tue 3:00 PM."). It never names the service, and a message never says what was written. At a business that keeps health information it names no client at all ("A visit Tue 3:00 PM."). It is in your own language.

Sales news on the phone

Where you sell, the sales news (a new prospect, a to-do given to you, an opportunity reaching a stage, a business gone quiet) is chosen on the web, in the menu under the business's name, Notifications, where A notification on my phone is one of the ways beside a text, an email and a to-do. With no phone of yours signed in with notifications on, it comes as a to-do. See The sales CRM.

A demo

A demo business sends no notifications, by any way. What you choose there is kept.

Best practices

  • Keep on what you act on, and turn off what you would only swipe away.
  • Set quiet hours for the hours you sleep; the morning's notices are waiting when they end.
  • Sign a phone out when you stop using it, under Settings in the app or Your sign-in on the web; its notifications stop with it.
