Map My Customers is the phone's map of the people you go out to: your clients at their doors, for a business that does its work at the client's place, and the businesses in the CRM you sell to. It is the same day of visits Sales keeps (see The sales map, routes and territories), worked from the hand: make the day by tapping pins, let it be put in order, drive it in your own map app, and check in and out at each stop.
Before it shows anything
- Clients on the map is a part of the Clients group, off until an owner switches it on under Admin, Modules, since each client's address is sent to be looked up to place them. A business that only sells needs nothing switched on: the businesses in the CRM are on the map for whoever has Sales.
- You see the clients in your book only (see Clients). At a business that keeps health information, someone who is not an owner sees only their own clients on the map, whatever their book, and no visit says what it is for.
- Clients are placed from their addresses a few at a time while the map is open; a client whose address could not be found is tried again a week later, and the map lists the ones not on it yet. A demo business's addresses are never looked up.
The map
The pins are your customers in their colors (What the colors say explains them): clients, and the businesses in Sales by what they are to you (a prospect, a lead being worked, an account). The numbered pins are the day's stops, joined by the day's line. The tray at the bottom says what is next: the stop to drive to and check in at, or the one you are at to check out of. Pull it up for The Day, the stops in order, and Customers, every customer as a list with Find a customer, which is also how the map is worked without seeing it.
The filter at the top chooses Today or Tomorrow, which layers show, Which businesses in the CRM, and Whose (yours, or everyone's where you may see the whole team's).
Making the day
- Tap Tap to add, then tap each customer in the order you will visit them; tap Adding by tapping again when you are done. A pin's own card has Add to the day too.
- Add my booked visits puts your visits booked at a client's place that day on it, each at its booked time.
- Order it for me puts the day in its shortest order. A booked visit never moves: the booked stops keep their times, and the others go where they add the least driving, before a booked visit only when they fit before its time. The day then says when you reach each stop, and warns of one you would reach late. With the business's Google key the drives are measured on the roads; without one, they are worked out from the map.
Driving it
Drive the day in your map app (Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze, chosen under Drive) opens directions from wherever the phone is, with the stops in order; a long day opens in parts, each starting where the one before ended. A stop's own Directions goes to that one.
At a stop
- Check in here checks you in where the phone is, kept with how far that is from the customer. In the app, the phone says why it wants your location the first time.
- Check in with the tag at the door reads the customer's NFC tag instead (see Tags). A pin's card has Write a tag for their door, so the next visit is a tap.
- Skip it asks why (such as Closed on Mondays); Put it back on the day undoes it. Take it off the day takes it off altogether.
- Check out: at a business, pick What came of it, say or type What was said, and choose when to Go back; it is kept on the business in Sales and moves it on. At a client's, what was said is kept on the client's notes, with their other notes, not on the route. Say it instead records the note and gives you the tidied words to read through first (see Voice notes).
- End the day marks the stops not reached as skipped.
When a pin is wrong
On a client's card, The pin is wrong: put it where I am sets their pin where you stand, and it is never moved by a lookup after that. Use their address again goes back to the address.
Best practices
- Put the day together the evening before, then let Order it for me fit it around your booked visits.
- Check in as you arrive and out as you leave: the times and the distance are the record of the visit.
- Say the note in the car park, while it is fresh, before the next stop.
- Write a tag for the door of a customer you see every week, and the check-in is a tap.
